Optimizing health

Optimizing Health After 40 Years of Abuse

Optimizing health is on everyone’s mind.  Believe it or not, many of us healthy thinkers can forget key areas in our life after 40 that we should be looking at the most.  These areas are explained below in some detail.  Remember that finding balance is not what other’s recommend, but rather learning to listen and feel your body.

For men especially, optimizing health means getting rid of that 40 Over the hill attitude.  Today 60 is the new 40, and many of us experiencing the advances of science and the medical industry, we can see first hand that if men focus on these 6 areas for improvement we can live a longer more fulfilling life.

“Live Fast, Die Young” is heard in music, seen in movies and spoken lightly among the new millennial and Generation Z ‘ers without realizing what they are saying is, “It’s Not Worth It Getting OLD.”

Optimizing Health After 40

Self consciousness of our bodies and how we look is more and more commencing at a younger age.  When teens used to be the leaders in how you look and appear to their fellow peers, today many as young as age 8 and 9 are experimenting with fashion and makeup on a daily basis.  Add gender confusion into this mix and our future seems like it will be very colorful and less judgmental as time passes on.

Now here we are starting to grasp optimizing health with what we believe to be true for each of ourselves.  As seasoned individuals we built a database of likes and dislikes, actions and reactions within our social peers.  With this vast knowledge we begin to mindset and accept the changes we are once again facing with our bodies.

The courage comes in how we deal with these physiological changes.   Well at least we can start with 6 simple steps and take it from there.  They goal is to improve each day when compared to the last.

Six Areas For Optimizing Health

Sleep and Nutrition

Our bodies internal clock is a mechanism similar to the timing of an engine that is used for optimizing health.  When you car’s or plane’s engine is off timing, you feel the engine quiver and shake, the exhaust blows out heavy with contaminants and the internal combustion is clogged with gunk.

Putting into perspective the above analogy, optimizing health of our internal clock is controlled with sleep and dietary intake.  When we consume foods, our bodies begin a process of digestion.  This sets in motion the internal mechanisms necessary to distribute all the good and bad nutrients and deal with each accordingly at the right time.  When this timing is upset our bodies begin a recovery process vs. a nutritional process.

When this timing is upset regularly, our bodies begin to adjust accordingly and often in the wrong ways, and if sleep gets in the way of our bodies internal timing for optimizing health, we begin to sub consciously deprive ourselves from the balance our bodies need to run at it’s peak performance. Lack of sleep, or sleep deprivation will eventually cause our bodies to quiver and shake.

What about the exhaust? Well that goes without saying, however our digestive systems will let you know it’s having a struggle dealing with the off timing and generate irregular or painful bowel movements contradicting our goal of optimizing health.  Your exhaust will be filled with unprocessed or over processed contaminants.  Check your stool when you dump.  It’s a good indicator on your bodies performance.

Hormones and Testosterone

They key hormone for optimizing health in men is Testosterone.  This hormone helps regulate the obvious sexual functions.  What is not so obvious is that this hormone also controls our motivational instincts and our mood.  Motivation for anyone is a huge factor when wanting to change or fine tune our bodies.  Without it we feel lost or locked into a state of pause.

Testosterone also controls the timing of our blood pressure, cholesterol and weight gain around our mid section.  Also known as Metabolic Syndrome, it can affect the background workings of our everyday life cycle.  All these symptoms can be addressed by a holistic doctor offering simple and clean bio-identical Testosterone treatments.  These come in the form of a cream or bio-pellets.

You must always keep in consideration that more is not better when optimizing health.  Regular checkups and testing of your Testosterone levels is highly recommended.  If your levels are less than 500 ng/dl and have any of the conditions we explained, we suggest you speak with your healthcare provider or holistic doctor.

The prostate is a walnut-sized gland located between the bladder and the penis. The prostate is just in front of the rectum. The urethra runs through the center of the prostate, from the bladder to the penis, letting urine flow out of the body. The prostate secretes fluid that nourishes and protects sperm. – WebMD

Prostrate enlargement can cause problems with urination and bladder control.  It is important to support prostate control and make sure you are absorbing enough Magnesium.

A good rule for optimizing health is to supplement your prostate with magnesium, zinc, vitamin A, and amino acids alanine, glycine and glutamic acid.  Natural herbs like Saw Palmetto is also extremely helpful with balancing and maintaining your prostate.

We can’t stress this enough.  Digestion is the ultimate when it comes to performance and optimizing health.  We all heard the saying “You get what you put in.”  Acid Reflux, Cramping, Hard or extremely lose stool or lack of enzymes can all lead to poor performance and open doors to more serious complications.  When you can’t digest your foods, you begin to reflux, the bodies natural way of saying “Let’s try that again.” lesson learned, at least we hope.

Over the counter meds for treating acid reflux always fall short at treating the cause.  They are only intended to relieve the symptoms.  Besides of the scary side effects of Alzheimer’s, Risk of Death, and Osteoporosis when taken long term is enough motivation, at least it should be, to consider treating the cause for optimizing health.

Improving digestion by taking a plant based enzymes and using in conjunction with vinegar based foods will help strengthen your digestive tract.  Taking DGL or Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice that you can find at your local health foods store for at least 6 weeks and then as needed is a great boost to your digestive reflux problems.
